Flood Emergency Response Component (FERC)

Sindh Water and Agriculture Transformation Project

FERC was introduced to restore flood-damaged infrastructure and support affected farmers, enabling the resumption of wheat cultivation for the Rabi season 2022-23.
The Flood Emergency Response Component (FERC) was introduced under the Sindh Water and Agriculture Transformation (SWAT) Project to restore flood-damaged infrastructure and support affected farmers. It aims to re-establish system functionality and provide direct assistance to farmers for seed, fertilizer, and land preparation, enabling them to resume wheat cultivation in Rabi season 2022-23 and sustain livelihoods. The component also includes financial support to small farmers through targeted subsidies. Under this initiative, eligible farmers received Rs. 5,000 per acre for landholdings up to 12.5 acres in Phase-I, and up to 25 acres in Phase-II. In addition, farmers under Phase-I were provided an additional Rs. 60,000 per farmer.
